A leatherback nest (with confirmed eggs) was found on Ocracoke Island, off the coast of North Carolina, on the morning of 18 April 2007. Remember, leatherbacks tend to nest every 10 days, so this female could return as early as 28 April to nest again.
Be sure to check the Atlantic Sea Turtles field trip throughout the spring and summer of 2007 to see what else is happening with these amazing animals.
