Headed Soon to Limbe

by Mike Loomis
June 7, 2010

My travel from North Carolina to Cameroon was uneventful. The only problem was at check-in in the United States, where I was not allowed to load some of my excess baggage onto the airplane. I ended up leaving some equipment behind, including a Skype camera and headset that I was hoping to use to do live videoconferencing back to the United States. I'll likely be able to bring that equipment with me when I return to Cameroon next winter.

So far, everything is on schedule. We'll leave for Limbe tomorrow and will head out to the field on Wednesday or Thursday. I was excited to learn that an advance team has been working in Korup National Park already and has seen significant elephant activity in the bush mango areas. This is a region we've targeted for an elephant collar, so I'm hopeful something will work out there.
