After several days of satellite telephone problems, FieldTripEarth is back in contact with the elephant collaring team in Cameroon. We hope to release a more detailed report tomorrow (21 June 2012), but for now the bottom line is that the team has not yet collared an animal. The team members will be hiking out on Thursday and returning to Limbe to regroup; after that, they plan to return to a different region of the Ebo Reserve and resume the search for animals in that area.
All team members are safe and healthy. The area they have been working in is very mountainous, so they have been slowed by steep hikes and poor trails. The weather has also been very rainy, which limits the team's ability to track animals efficiently.
